As per a report:

Bollywood actresses are certainly very popular across the nation but it seems their popularity has been taken a little too seriously by Kerala Staff Selection Commission. A report in a leading national daily claims that the Combined Graduate Level Exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Kerala, asked candidates to name Bollywood's tallest actress and gave a choice of four. Here's the question: "Q: Who among the following actresses is the tallest in height?

"A: (a) Huma Qureshi (b) Katrina Kaif (c) Deepika Padukone (d) Preity Zinta " NDTV reports that SSC chairman

A Bhattacharya apologised later and said, "It is improper, abominable, substandard... we are very upset and deeply sorry." The question in government exam led to a frenzy on Twitter with people mocking the state govt.

As per a report:

Aurangabad: Two engineers in the Public Works Department have received a notice to explain why Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was served lunch without ice-cream for dessert on Monday.

Ajit Pawar had stopped at a state-run guest house in Aurangabad for lunch on his way to Jalna, where he was to address workers of his Nationalist Congress Party after its crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha Elections. Lunch was partaken of without incident; the trouble began when Pawar asked what was for dessert.

Embarrassed housekeeping staff at the guest house said there was none. Pawar left without a fuss, but his supporters complained to the District Collector's office and insisted that it shoot off show-cause notices to the two engineers for the "lapse." The NCP supporters are so incensed at their leader not getting a sweet treat, that they have also demanded the suspension of the housekeeping staff. The opposition says this just another example of what it calls the "NCP's arrogance".

An NCP spokesperson refused to speak on camera, but off it said he found the behaviour of Pawar's supporters "strange". He then dismissed the incident as "too small to react to".

Bangalore Spends Rs. 2 Lakh to Trap 20 Rats

As per a report:

At almost Rs 10,000 per rat, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palik (BBMP) has probably paid the steepest price to its 'Piper' (companies chosen through e-procurement) to get rid of pesky rodents. Armed with an RTI reply, Yediyur corporator N R Ramesh stunned the BBMP Council when he said the Palike had spent Rs 2 lakh in six months to catch rats at the Pal ike head office in NR square and IPP building in Malleswaram. And in six months, they managed to trap only 20 rats.

The tender was awarded to three companies and Rs 2 lakh was paid in several installments under 'Mooshika Nirvahane' plan.

Two years ago, BBMP began renovating offices in the administration section and office of chief accounts officer. Ramesh said he found out the renovation began after employees found a dead rat in one of the cupboards. He also found out that the Palike had spent Rs 16,000 for a cabin worth Rs 8,000. This prompted him to file an RTI to know how much the BBMP had spent in six months.

The information he received was a revelation. The RTI reply stated that the BBMP had spent Rs 99,000 to control rodent menace in BBMP head office at NR Circle and at IPP centre at Malleswaram from October 2012 to January 2013. Again, the BBMP had spent Rs 99,000 from August 2013 to October 2013. That is a total of Rs 1.98 lakh to trap rats. On October 29, 2013, BBMP had again called for an annual e-procurement tender to control rodent menace.

Ramesh's question evoked only laughter in the BBMP council. Fellow corporators and senior officials, including commissioner M Lakshminarayana, were in splits.

"I was not looking for a reply as the RTI application has revealed all information. The office interiors were renovated after the death of a rat. Sadly, even after spending Rs 1.41 crore, the quality of work on the interiors is very poor," Ramesh told TOI.

Tiger Grabed Man off Boat & Leapt back with Man in its Jaws into Jungle

Subscribe to My Viuz Subscribe to My Viuz in MY YAHOO! Subscribe to My Viuz in MY GOOGLE! Subscribe to My Viuz in MY MSN! Subscribe to My Viuz in MY AOL! Subscribe to My Viuz in Rojo!
As per a report:

The danger of venturing into the prohibited areas of Sunderbans was revealed again on Thursday morning when a tiger jumped from the bank of a creek and leapt back with a man in its jaws. This is the fourth time that a human was killed by a tiger in the Sunderbans this year. The victim, 62-year-old Sushil Majhi, lived in Lahiripur near Datta river, less than kilometre from a creek that runs deep into the forest. Along with his son Jyotish, 40, and adopted daughter Molina, Majhi would often row up the creek to catch crabs. On Thursday, at the crack of dawn, the three set out on a boat to the forests of Kholakhali, an area where fishing is banned. Jyotish sat in front of the boat, Sushil in the middle and Molina at the tai. That is how they balanced the vessel while pulling in the net.

"Shortly after we reached the spot, around 7am, we got a whiff of a strange odour. We immediately decided to turn back to a safer zone," Jyotish told TOI. They were paddling towards a less dense area when a tiger that had been stalking them struck like lightning. "Suddenly, my sister cried out: 'Dada, bagh (tiger)'. I was stunned, and my body froze. All I saw a flash of yellow. It took me a moment to register the gruesome sight before me. My father was completely buried under the beast. I could only see his legs thrashing about. I shook off my numbness and grabbed a stick. Molina, too, took out a long cutter we use to clear foliage in the jungle.

Together, we poked and battered the tiger, but it refused to give up," he said. Despite being attacked, the tiger concentrated on its kill and once it got a good grip, it held Majhi by his neck and jerked the body in a way that it landed on its back, said Jyotish. "It jumped off and landed on the bank in one giant leap. We saw it disappear into the jungle with my father still in its jaws," he added, shaking from the ordeal. Jyotish and Molina raised the alarm and some fishermen paddled furiously in their direction.

"But they didn't dare chase the tiger into the deep woods. Molina was so traumatized that she lost consciousness. I didn't take any further risk and returned with her as quickly as possible," said Jyotish. Majhi's body is unlikely to be recovered, as countless other human victims before him. Sunderbans Tiger Reserve field director Soumitra Dasgupta said there were reports of a tiger attacking a fisherman on Thursday morning. "Fishing is banned in the forests where the incident took place," he said.

As per a report:

The Rajasthan government ordered a probe into a possibly life-threatening gaffe at the Mathura Das Mathur Hospital in Jodhpur where antibiotic injection carrying a 'for-animal-treatment-only' warning was administered to in-patients over six days.

The government also suspended the store-keeper of the hospital who failed to notice the warning though the drug-manufacturer later clarified that the injection was meant for humans and the warning label was pasted by mistake.

The antibiotic injection Meropenem was procured under the chief minister's free drug scheme, a highly popular healthcare project launched during the previous Congress government led by Ashok Gehlot.

As many as 155 vials of the antibiotic injections were administered to patients admitted to the surgery and trauma wards of the hospital in the last six days but no ill-effects have been seen so far.

The error was noticed on Sunday and the injections stopped.

Principal secretary, medical education, JC Mohanty said a three-member investigation committee has been formed and will submit its report within seven days as directed by health minister Rajendra Rathore.

"No side effect of the drug was seen on any patient administered the injection," MDMH superintendent Dr Deepak Verma told Hindustan Times.

He said any reaction to the medicine would have been visible within eight hours.

The 800-bed MDMH in Jodhpur – around 350 km from here – is one of the premier government hospitals in the entire district.

Dr Verma said the Himachal Pradesh-based manufacturer of the antibiotic -- Pushkar Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd -- has informed that the drug was not for animal treatment but by mistake the warning label was pasted on the vials.

District drug controller Manish Gupta said seized samples have been sent to Jaipur for laboratory tests to ascertain the manufacturer's claims.
