As per a video on youtube:

Staff at Francesco’s Pizzeria in south Mumbai were inspired by the news that online retail giant Amazon was planning to use unmanned drones to deliver goods, and decided to try one out as a means to beat the city’s notorious traffic.

"We successfully carried out a test delivery by sending a pizza to a customer located 1.5 kilometre away from our outlet on May 11," Francesco’s Pizzeria chief executive Mikhel Rajani told the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency.
"What we have done now will be common place in the next four to five years," he said, adding that the customised four-rotor drones each cost around $US2000 ($2160).
The company posted a video of the delivery on YouTube, which shows the drone carrying the pizza box over shops, cricketers and the coastline of the financial capital before landing on a high-rise rooftop.
Rajani believes the test will lead the way to a cheaper and quicker service than their usual two-wheelers can provide by road.

As per one report:

Eleven-months-old Niya Nisam loud bawling did not deter her parents from sending the infant parasailing alone 50-ft up in the sky at Muzhappilangad beach here on Wednesday afternoon. Hours later, district police chief P N Unnirajan, who attended the adventure sport event, said he would register a case under the Juvenile Justice Act against the organizers.

"When I was asked to flag off (the event), I refused, saying that making a child to parasail alone is against the rules. But they said that one of the parents will accompany her. I believed them and left the place before it began," he said.

The event was organized by Malabar Aero Sports Society (MASS) a Kozhikode-based adventure sports and tourism organization. The little para-sailor is the granddaughter of Safar Ahmed, general secretary of the organization.

MASS said the event was aimed at popularizing parasailing. It claimed to have imparted "proper training" to the infant.

A senior paediatrician, however, pooh-poohed the "training" argument. "It’s not age-appropriate learning. An 11-month-old cannot learn parasailing just like that," Dr Sachidananda Kamath, state president of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics, said.

The district tourism promotion council (DTPC), the licensing authority for such events on the beach, said the event was conducted without permission. DTPC secretary Saji Varghese said that the council later received a letter from the organizers, apologizing for conducting the event without permission.

As per one report:

Dharambir, 15, was labelled a boy possessed by evil spirits for years. Reason: He would bleed from his eyes, forehead, cheeks, hands, ears, nose, mouth and other parts of the body. Belonging to a farming family in Palwal, Haryana, Dharambir did not know what hit him when he first started bleeding at the age of 10. It started with a simple ear infection that could not be cured by the local doctor. A few weeks later, he started bleeding from his ear and then it just kept getting worse over time. “People in our village shunned him; they thought he was possessed by some evil soul. We were scared for he would suddenly start bleeding, at times even three-four times in a day,” said Shyam Lal, his father.

For a couple of years, the family moved from one doctor to another in search of a cure for this peculiar disease but to no avail. Finally, in 2011 Dharambir came to a private hospital in Gurgaon. “Even I was surprised to know about the case. My first reaction was of disbelief but his family insisted it was a disease,” said Dr Shashidhar TB, consultant paediatrician, department of ENT, Artemis Hospital. It was an episode on Discovery Channel that finally drew Dr Shashidhar’s attention to a condition called haemolacria. “It’s a rare condition and only a few people are reported to have this condition globally.

There was no known cure. So after a lot of deliberation and consultation with other experts, I started his treatment,” said Dr Shashidhar. Dharamir was put on a drug called Propranolol, which is used to treat hypertension. “It is known to stop bleeding so I took the chance,” he added. It has been two years and Dharambir has not had a single bleeding episode. “A year ago, we stopped the medicine and he is under observation,” said the doctor. The boy’s family is relieved. “We had a tough time but life is getting back to normal. He has even resumed school. He will sit for his Class 10 boards next year,” said his father.

As per one report:

An Indian wedding turned to horror on Thursday when the bride was shot dead by a cousin who believed she had "cheated" on him. Dr. Jaishri Namdeo, 29, was standing with her groom onstage in the city of Bhopal when Anurag Singh allegedly stormed up the aisle and shot her at point-blank range.

Singh, who had entered the wedding disguised as a photographer, then attempted to shoot himself but missed and grazed a nearby guest, allowing witnesses to tackle him to the ground. They then disarmed the shooter and beat him violently until police arrived.

Namdeo, a pediatrician, died later in hospital from a single wound to the neck. Her husband, Rohit Namdeo, a surgeon, survived the attack. Unconfirmed reports suggest that they may have studied together in the past.

As per a report:

He dreamt of flying to Dubai but 11-year-old Sameer Bagoda's parents abandoned him at the airport here, gave him Rs.500 and told him to head back to his hometown of Satara in neighbouring Maharashtra. Sameer was found abandoned at Goa's only international airport at Dabolim, 40 km from capital Panaji, sobbing and anxious to see his parents again, earlier this week.

According to police, Sameer had arrived at the airport with his parents, Shivani and Shobha Bagoda, on Tuesday afternoon. "They told him that the family was flying to Dubai. He was excited. But when they reached the airport, they gave him Rs.500 and asked him to head back to Satara, abandoning him there," a police officer connected to the mysterious case told IANS. The officer, who has access to Sameer's statement, recorded in the presence of a counsellor, claims that the Bagoda trio had travelled from Satara to Goa by train a day earlier.

A confused and scared Sameer was first noticed by security personnel outside the Dabolim airport with a small bag containing eatables and clothes. When airport officials tried to speak to him, he appeared frozen, almost in shock, unable to give any personal details to his friendly interrogators. It took a while to break the ice. That's when he revealed details like his name, how he landed there and the names of his family members. "We know that he is from Satara, because he has repeatedly told us about some landmarks there," the officer said. Deputy Superintendent of Police Lawrence D'Souza, who is in charge of the Vasco sub- division, said police had immediately contacted their counterparts in Satara but there had been no response.

As per a report:

A man in Delhi faced the wrath for wasting valuable time of a consumer forum by filing a legal case against a multiplex for showing Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor's movie Rockstar. The consumer forum on Thursday, May 9 dismissed a Rs 50,000 claim by the man who alleged mental harassment against multiplex authorities over bad quality of a movie he saw in 2011, saying he could have left the hall if he did not like the film.

A West Delhi District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum also rapped Delhi resident Lovenish Kumar Bhardwaj for wasting valuable time of the forum. The forum, headed by its President Bimla Makin, dismissed Bhardwaj's plea claiming a compensation of Rs 50,000 on account of mental harassment and agony suffered by him while watching 'Rockstar' movie in December 2011 at Movie Time Multiplex in Rajouri Garden, due to the bad picture quality of the film.

"Where was the question of mental harassment to the tune of Rs 50,000? If he was not liking the movie, he could leave the hall and at best Bhardwaj would have suffered a loss of Rs 100 or 200. He spent more money on filing this complaint than what was his loss in the form of purchasing a movie ticket," the forum said. It also said that presuming if a ticket was purchased for seeing a movie for few rupees then even if some part of the movie was smoky or not clear, the complainant cannot be encouraged to approach the district forum for loss of petty amount and that too claiming a compensation of Rs 50,000.

The man had told the forum that after a few minutes of the show, he found that quality of picture was "very corrupt, smoky" on the screen and sometimes it got paused for a while. He had approached a torchman and multiplex authorities, but even after their assurance, the picture quality remained poor. He then gave a written complaint to the police in this regard, Bhardwaj said. Later, he approached the forum claiming that he was dissatisfied with the multiplex's services and was humiliated.

As per a report:

In Ludhiana city in Punjab a group of women, campaigns in election season with their rolling pins (Belans). They call themselves the 'Belan Brigade', using the humble rolling pin as their mascot to convince people to stay away from the lure of drugs and money in exchange for their votes.

Anita Sharma, who leads the campaign, explains the idea behind the 'Belan Brigade' as she goes door to door, handing out pamphlets. "We have got a good response to the campaign with women wanting to join in. Today we are in a situation where 72 per cent of our population is hooked to some sort of drug abuse," she says.

Savita Kalra, another member adds, "If you go from village to village you can see how badly it has impacted people's lives. Whether it's the son or husband who is an addict, it is the woman who pays for it. It is so rampant that in some cases the mother herself gets the injections since she can't see her child suffer. "
